Will I receive a refund for any ground rent I have already paid before I sell my property?

The Freeholder will not reimburse you for any ground rent you have paid in advance before you sell your property. Instead, you should be given an apportionment for ground rent on your completion statement, based on the number of days left in the ground rent period.

Example:

If you are selling a property on the 30th of June that has;

- Ground rent of £200 per year in Advance
- A rent period that runs from the 1st January to the 31st December

Then your completion statement should show that you are owed from the 1st of July - 31st December    = (184 Days at 55p per day = £100.82)
